Etsy and AI: what's allowed for digital products
Etsy accepts products made with the help of AI, but with rules. Ignoring them can get a listing removed or even a shop suspended. Here's what matters.
Disclose AI use
Etsy asks sellers to be transparent: if your product was made with the help of AI tools, say so in the listing description. One simple sentence is enough, for example "Content written with the help of AI tools, then reviewed and laid out by the shop".
Respect intellectual property
- No protected brands, logos or characters in the title, tags or visuals
- No copying of existing books, courses or articles
- Images you have rights to (made by you, by an AI that allows it, or licensed)
Be careful with sensitive topics
Health, weight loss, money, investing: these topics sell, but they require care. No promises of cures or earnings, clear disclaimers, and a referral to a professional when needed.
Bring real value
Etsy favors shops with satisfied customers. A reviewed, useful, well-presented e-book gets better reviews than text generated and published without checking.
